How to Play the Password Game

If you are looking for a fun and interactive way to test or practice vocabulary and practice verbal skills, then this Password word game template is perfect for your classroom! Password is one of the best vocabulary games for ESL students or anyone studying new languages. Here’s how to play:

Option 1: Team Play

  • Divide the class into two teams.
  • One team starts and sends a player to the front of the class with their back to the screen.
  • The teacher shows a word on the screen. The rest of the team gives hints—but they can’t say the word!
  • The player has 30 seconds to guess the word.
  • After their turn, it’s the other team’s chance to play.
  • The team with the most correct guesses wins the game!

Option 2: Whole-Class Play (Students play against the teacher)

  • Choose one student to guess the word.
  • The entire class gives hints to help the player.
  • If the student guesses the word within 30 seconds, the class earns a point. If not, the teacher gets the point.

The Password Game has been a huge hit in my ESL class! It’s such a simple, interactive way to build vocabulary and improve verbal skills. I love how it encourages teamwork when played in groups and gets the entire class involved in whole-class mode.

    Hi,

I bought your Password game on Teachers Pay Teachers and love it! I’m having a little trouble with the audio, though. The music plays over the ticking clock sound, and the clock buzzer starts as soon as a new slide appears.

I’ve been able to customize the slides (adding words, duplicating, etc.), but I can’t seem to change anything with the audio. Is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks!

      Hello,

Yes, it’s possible to separate the audio files.

Since the audio is inserted in the Slide Master view, you’ll need to edit it from there. Here’s how:

Go to the “View” tab and select “Slide Master”.
Navigate to the specific layout where the audio is located.
You can select and delete any audio you don’t want. The third audio icon is the music.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Best regards,
      Carolin
