Math Vocabulary Password Game, Middle School Math Review, Google Slides and PowerPoint

$4.99

Try cluing QUOTIENT in one word without saying divide. This math vocabulary game for grades 6 to 8 covers numbers, geometry and data in the classic Password format, in Google Slides or PowerPoint. Project it, or print the word cards.

Three Rounds, Three Strands

  • Numbers: fraction, decimal, integer, exponent, quotient
  • Geometry: perimeter, diameter, vertex, congruent, polygon
  • Data: average, median, outlier, probability, trend

How the Game Works

  1. Two teams, or pairs. Each team picks a guesser, and guessers face away
  2. The math term appears. Teammates take turns giving ONE-WORD clues
  3. One guess after each clue. First team to say the term wins it

Perfect For

  • Math vocabulary review that is not a matching worksheet
  • Unit warm-ups, test prep, Fridays, sub days
  • No projector? Play with the printable cut-apart cards

Description

What’s Included

  • The editable game with 30 math terms in 3 rounds and a clickable round picker. Google Slides ready, plus a PowerPoint version with the game show sound effects
  • Printable cut-apart word cards, one sheet per round, for playing without a projector
  • Rules page and a 2-team score sheet
  • Color and ink-saver black and white, US Letter and A4

The 3 Rounds

Round 1 is numbers and operations, round 2 is geometry and measurement, and round 3 is data and statistics. Ten terms each, taken from the vocabulary a grade 6 to 8 course actually assesses. Every term is editable, so any round can become the unit you are teaching right now.

Why It Works in Math

Students cannot clue a math term without saying what it means in their own words, and they cannot use the obvious giveaway word. That is the difference between a student who has memorized a definition and one who understands the idea, and you hear it happen in real time.

Works On

Windows, Mac, and Chromebooks. Project the slides or print the cards. No student devices or logins required.
