Spanish Sub Plans, Spanish 2 Emergency Sub Binder, A2, Grades 6-12, 9 No Prep Activities

$5.99

A travel mystery, a grammar detective, a trip to plan: a sub day in Spanish 2. These Spanish sub plans are emergency sub plans for Spanish 2 (level A2): one full day of 9 no prep activities that review core A2 grammar, and the sub needs no Spanish. Your students get both individual work and team tasks: 3 activities they do on their own (a quiet reading, a grammar detective sheet and a practice menu) and 6 with others (a partner check and a trip planner in pairs, a puzzle tournament and a travel logic mystery in teams, a class vote and an optional quiz game for the whole class). Every activity starts with a Say this to the class box in English, every Spanish page has its own word bank, and every key gives the Spanish answer with its English meaning. It is review only, for middle school or high school. No prep and no tech for you: print it once and keep it ready.

Perfect For

  • A sudden sick day: emergency sub plans that are ready before you need them
  • A sub who speaks no Spanish: every instruction is in English and every answer is in the key
  • Any Spanish 2 class, in middle school or high school: run one activity per period, or the same one all day
  • Your sub tub or emergency sub folder, printed once for the whole year
  • Your own no prep day, a review day before a test, or a planned absence like a conference or training

How It Works

  1. Print the binder and leave it on your desk. The lesson plan on page 4 is already filled in: every activity with its page, its minutes and three short steps.
  2. Each activity starts with a sub script: a Say this to the class box of two or three English sentences the sub reads aloud, how to set it up, the timing, and the answer key.
  3. Every activity fills most or all of one class period (35 to 45 minutes), so the sub can run a different one each period or the same one all day. They all stand alone and review Spanish 2 the class has met before.
  4. Every student worksheet has a core task for everyone and a star challenge for early finishers. The Whiteboard Quiz Game is optional, a fun way to end a class or to fill extra time.
  5. The keys give every answer in Spanish with its English meaning, and the open tasks come with a checklist and a model, so the sub never has to judge or speak Spanish.

What’s Inside: 38 Pages

  • 7 pages for the sub: a binder cover, important information, a note to the substitute, the lesson plan already filled in, a schedule of the day, a class list and dismissal sheet, and a "how it went" sheet at the back
  • Quiet Reading (individual, 45 min): Two short Spanish texts with questions and keys: a travel blog and a childhood memory. It practices reading A2 texts for detail: the preterite, the imperfect and the present perfect in a blog and a memory.
  • Grammar Detective (individual, 40 min): Ten short messages in Spanish, each with one hidden grammar mistake to find, fix and name. It practices finding and fixing A2 slips: preterite and imperfect forms, participles, haber, lo and la, mayor, doler, commands.
  • Practice Menu (individual, 45 min): Three quiet sheets to choose from: a secret message in verb forms, preterite or imperfect, and object pronouns. It practices past verb forms, the preterite or the imperfect and why, and lo, la, los, las with commands.
  • Partner Check (pairs, 40 min): Partner A builds verb forms, Partner B fills them into sentences: the answers must match. It practices A2 verb forms: preterite, imperfect, present perfect, commands, estar + gerund, acabar de and ir a.
  • Trip Planner (pairs or threes, 40 min): A timetable of five trips to compare in Spanish, then a postcard from the trip your group picks. It practices comparatives and superlatives, por and para, and a postcard in the preterite, present perfect and ir a.
  • Spanish Puzzle Tournament (teams, 41 min): 24 puzzles in three rounds: scrambled words, riddles with lo and la, and verbs for yesterday and back then. It practices A2 travel, clothing, health and childhood words, lo and la, and the preterite and imperfect.
  • The Mixed-Up Travel Files (teams, 40 min): A logic mystery in Spanish: rebuild five travelers’ files from the travel agent’s notes. It practices reading clues in the preterite, comparing times (earlier than, later than) and reasoning from clues.
  • Which Is Better? Class Vote (whole class, 40 min): Twelve pairs to vote on, with a reason in Spanish: comparatives, opinions and childhood in the imperfect. It practices giving reasons in Spanish with comparatives, opinions and the imperfect for childhood memories.
  • Whiteboard Quiz Game (whole class in teams, optional, 35 min): An optional board quiz game on past forms, commands, pronouns and comparisons, all from this binder. It is a review of this binder: the preterite and imperfect, the present perfect, commands, pronouns and comparisons.
  • A sub script for every activity, with the answer keys printed on it or right after it (10 pages), and 21 student pages

Helpful Details

Written for Spanish level A2 (Spanish 2, CEFR A2), grades 6 to 12. Review only: the activities go over core A2 grammar (the preterite with its spelling changes and common irregular verbs, the imperfect, the preterite versus the imperfect, the present perfect, affirmative commands with an attached pronoun, lo, la, los and las, doler, comparisons, estar plus gerund, acabar de and ir a) with travel, shopping, health and childhood words. It is one review day, not a complete A2 course, and nothing is taught for the first time. 9 activities for one day, 35 to 45 minutes each, each with its own sub script and student pages: 3 for students working on their own and 6 with a partner, a team or the whole class. Supplies are copies and pencils. No tech, no logins, no prep.
