Helpful Details
Written for high school drama and theater, grades 9 to 12, from Theater 1 to advanced classes. 9 activities for one day, 35 to 45 minutes each, each with its own sub script and student pages: 3 for students working on their own and 6 with a partner, a team or the whole class. The topics are review: stage areas (stage left and house left, upstage and downstage), reading a script, acting terms like objective, obstacle, tactic and subtext, lighting, sound and calling cues, props, costumes and ground plans, the jobs of a theater company, French scenes and rehearsal planning, and some theater history (Greek theater, the Globe, commedia dell’arte, kabuki and Noh, the history of stage lighting), with the harder items in the challenges. All texts and scenes are original. Supplies are copies and pencils. No tech, no logins, no prep.
Need more than one day? My High School Drama Sub Plans also come as 2 weeks of full drama days.
