ESL Would You Rather Game, Speaking Activity for Beginner to Advanced Teens and Adults, Google Slides, PowerPoint and Printables

$4.99

Quiet students in my class suddenly have opinions when it is A or B. This ESL would you rather game is an ESL speaking activity for beginner to advanced teens and adults, with sentence frames and follow-up questions on all 36 questions, in Google Slides, PowerPoint or print.

Perfect For

  • ESL, ELL and EFL classes from beginner to advanced: teens and adults, mixed level groups, conversation classes
  • Real speaking practice: every student votes, gives a reason and answers a follow-up question
  • A warm-up, an icebreaker with a new group, or a fun way to end the lesson

How the Game Works

  1. Pick a level on the menu slide: Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced, 12 questions each
  2. Read the two choices and check new words. Students vote by standing on the A side or the B side of the room
  3. Pairs give their reason with the SAY IT sentence frame on the slide
  4. Ask the 2 follow-up questions, then click on. Challenge round: argue for the side you did not pick

Why Teachers Love This Game

  • Three levels in one deck, so it grows with your class from A1 to C1
  • Sentence frames and reactions for every level, so nobody gets stuck after “B”
  • Nothing childish and nothing school-only, so it works with adults too
  • No prep, no logins and no wrong answers

Here is a quick look at the game:

The Three Levels

  • Beginner A1-A2 (12 questions): short, everyday choices you can picture: take the bus or ride a bike, cook dinner or wash the dishes, visit a zoo or visit a museum. Frame: I would rather ___ because ___.
  • Intermediate B1-B2 (12 questions): everyday life, travel, work and study: learn English online or in a classroom, plan every detail of a trip or decide everything on the spot. Frame: I’d rather ___ than ___ because ___.
  • Advanced C1 (12 questions): abstract and hypothetical choices: hear an uncomfortable truth or believe a comforting lie, work for an AI boss that is always fair or a human boss who is sometimes unfair. Frame: Given the choice, I’d opt to ___, mainly because ___.

Every question is safe for teens and adults in mixed international classes: no dating, money, religion or politics, and no questions about home countries or families.
