Social Studies Vocabulary Password Game, Civics Geography and Economics Review, Google Slides and PowerPoint

$4.99

Clue VETO in one word without saying no. This social studies vocabulary game for grades 6 to 8 covers government, geography and economics in the classic Password format, in Google Slides or PowerPoint. Project it, or print the word cards.

Three Rounds, Three Strands

  • Government: democracy, citizen, senate, veto, amendment
  • Geography: peninsula, equator, plateau, canyon, latitude
  • Economics: supply, demand, tariff, scarcity, inflation

How the Game Works

  1. Two teams, or pairs. Each team picks a guesser, and guessers face away
  2. The term appears. Teammates take turns giving ONE-WORD clues
  3. One guess after each clue. First team to say the term wins it

Perfect For

  • Civics and geography review that gets the room arguing in a good way
  • Unit warm-ups, exam review, Fridays, sub days
  • No projector? Play with the printable cut-apart cards

Description

What’s Included

  • The editable game with 30 social studies terms in 3 rounds and a clickable round picker. Google Slides ready, plus a PowerPoint version with the game show sound effects
  • Printable cut-apart word cards, one sheet per round, for playing without a projector
  • Rules page and a 2-team score sheet
  • Color and ink-saver black and white, US Letter and A4

The 3 Rounds

Round 1 is government and civics, round 2 is geography and landforms, and round 3 is economics and trade. Ten terms each, drawn from the vocabulary a grade 6 to 8 social studies course actually assesses. Every term is editable, so any round can become the unit you are teaching right now.

Why It Works in Social Studies

These are abstract words. A student can recite that scarcity means limited resources and still not understand it. Giving a one-word clue forces the idea into their own words, and because the giveaway word is banned, you hear immediately who has it and who is repeating the textbook.

Works On

Windows, Mac, and Chromebooks. Project the slides or print the cards. No student devices or logins required.
