High School Drama Sub Plans, 2 Weeks, Long Term Sub Plans for 9th 10th 11th 12th Grade Drama and Theater, No Prep, 132 Pages

Original price was: $17.99.Current price is: $14.39.

I wrote ten theater days so your sub never has to improvise. These high school drama sub plans are long term sub plans for two full weeks of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade drama and theater: one drama set a day, written work any sub can run, with little or no acting. Every task (each drama set, calm block, team task, game and the Monday opener) starts with a "Say this to the class" box: two or three sentences that tell students what to do and how to start. Every day has individual work (the drama set and a calm block) and a team task for groups of four, plus an optional game on that day’s lesson as a fun way to end the class. Every drama set has a core task and a ★ challenge for fast finishers. No prep: print and go for a two-week absence, a planned leave, or the first two weeks of a long term sub.

Perfect For

  • Two weeks out: surgery or medical leave, a family emergency, a school trip, jury duty
  • A good start for a longer absence: the first two weeks of a long term sub, before your own plans take over
  • A sub who has never been on a stage: every task has a script, the work is on paper, and every answer is in the key
  • Theater 1 to advanced drama classes, with a core task for everyone and a ★ challenge for fast finishers
  • Your sub tub or emergency sub folder, ready before you need it

How It Works

  1. Print both binders and leave them on your desk. Week 1 covers days 1 to 5 and Week 2 covers days 6 to 10. Each binder has its own week plan on page 4, already filled in with page numbers.
  2. The sub reads the "Say this to the class" box at the top of the task, then runs the day’s drama set in every period. Each set is one period (45 to 55 minutes) of written work. Every student does the core task; fast finishers go on to the ★ challenge.
  3. The calm block (learn 8 drama terms, then a quiet self-test) is for early finishers or a loud moment, the team task for groups of four fills a block period or extra time, and the game is optional fun for the last 15 minutes.
  4. Acting is never required. Reading aloud is optional, and the one rehearsed scene (Week 1, Day 5) can be read seated.
  5. Every set stands alone, so the plan is only a sample order: move any set to any day. Every answer is in the key at the back of each binder, so the sub needs no theater background. Prefer your own order? Each binder includes a blank weekly schedule.

What the Sub Gets

  • A note to the substitute in each binder: the daily routine, how the core task and the ★ challenge work, and what to do if the class is loud
  • A "Say this to the class" script for every task: the Monday opener, each drama set, each calm block, each team task and each game (42 in all), two or three sentences that say what students do, how (on their own, in groups of four or as a whole class) and the first step
  • A step by step sub script for the Monday opener, and a "Read this out" box on most games
  • The week plan already filled in with page numbers, a blank schedule, a class list and a "how it went" page
  • Every answer in the key, including the ★ challenges

Helpful Details

Written for grades 9 to 12. Each day has one drama set that runs in every period you teach, so one binder covers all your drama and theater classes. The scenes, monologues and scripts in the sets are my own original writing. Every drama set and team task has a core task and a ★ challenge. The two weeks have their own topics, team tasks and game questions, ten days and ten topics in all. Each filled-in plan is a sample order: every set stands alone. No tech needed: nothing needs a login, a projector, student devices or supplies beyond pencil and paper. Week 1 covers the same drama topics as my one-week High School Drama sub plans, now with a say-this script on every task. Weeks 2 to 6 of this class are never sold alone; this is Week 1 + Week 2.
