What the Questions Are Like
Trivia a teenager can know or reason out: the first presidential Thanksgiving proclamation, why turkey gets blamed for the nap, how long a 14 pound bird roasts, which state grows the most cranberries, what the giant parade balloons are filled with. Feud surveys about the day itself: the chore someone always gets stuck with, the side dish people quietly skip, what a college student brings home for the break. Discussion cards with no right answer: who you are grateful for but have never told, one tradition to keep forever and one to drop, whether gratitude is a feeling, a habit or a choice. Nothing political, nothing that assumes a family setup, and no history quiz.
Works On
Windows, Mac, and Chromebooks. Project the slides. No student devices or logins required.
Important
Play the games in Slideshow (Present) mode so every cell, answer bar, button, and link works. The sound buttons (thumbs up, thumbs down, and music) on the trivia slides work in the PowerPoint version, which is included here. Google Slides does not play sounds, so those buttons are decorative in the Slides version.
Teaching grades 6 to 8 as well? My Thanksgiving Activities Kit for Grades 6 to 8 runs the same way with middle school content.
