Spanish Sub Plans, C1 Review, AP and Advanced, Any Grade, Week Long Emergency Sub Plans for Spanish Class, No Prep, 67 Pages

$9.99

Advanced Spanish students deserve more than a word search on a sub day. I built these Spanish sub plans for level C1, AP Spanish and advanced classes: emergency sub plans or long term sub plans with five days of review, one set a day for every class, in middle school or high school. It is review only, nothing new: Spanish worksheets with word banks on style and register, language in society, science journalism, literature, and ethics, plus a daily calm vocabulary block, team tasks, optional Spanish review games and answer keys, in a no prep Spanish sub binder. Every instruction is in English, so the sub needs no Spanish. No tech needed. Print and go for a planned absence, a sub tub, a substitute teacher binder, or emergency lesson plans on a sick day.

Perfect For

  • A full week out: sick leave, a conference, jury duty, a family emergency
  • A sub who does not know your subject or your class
  • Spanish teachers with several classes at the same level: one set covers every class that day
  • A review week before a test or after a break, when nothing new should be taught
  • Your sub tub or emergency sub folder, ready before you need it
  • Long term subs who need a first week that runs itself

How It Works

  1. Print the binder and leave it on your desk. The week plan on page 4 is already filled in, with page numbers and minutes for every set.
  2. Monday’s set runs in every period you teach on Monday, Tuesday’s set on Tuesday, and so on. The calm vocabulary block fits any gap, the team task fills a block period, and the game is optional fun for the last 15 minutes.
  3. Every set stands alone, so the plan is only a sample order: swap sets between days, or use one with another class when it fits. Each set opens with a line that says what it reviews, so you can match it to what your class has covered.
  4. Instructions are in English and every answer is in the key, so the sub needs no Spanish.
  5. Prefer your own order? A blank weekly schedule is included.

What’s Inside: 67 Pages

  • A sub binder front section: a note to the substitute, the week plan already filled in Monday to Friday with page numbers, a blank weekly schedule, class list and dismissal, a “how it went” sheet, and a Monday opener (Meet Your Sub)
  • C1 review set 1, Style and Register: reviews nominal and verbal style rewrites both ways, formal and colloquial register, how an opinion column is built, idioms
  • C1 review set 2, Language in Society: reviews word formation with prefixes and suffixes, the nuance of diminutives and augmentatives, voseo and vosotros, regional vocabulary
  • C1 review set 3, Science Journalism: reviews academic impersonal and passive forms, hedging, the future and conditional of probability, summary writing
  • C1 review set 4, Literature and Voice: reviews the imperfect subjunctive in -ra and -se, como si, narrative tenses, idioms and figurative language, narrator, tone and imagery
  • C1 review set 5, Ethics and the Future: reviews concessive and conditional connectors with the subjunctive, discourse markers, essay structure, ethics vocabulary
  • Spanish team tasks, one per day (about 40 minutes, groups of four): The Idiom Count; The Culture Budget; The Paper Cantilever; The Culture Page; The Data Debate
  • Optional Spanish games for the last 15 minutes, a fun way to end the class or something for extra time, with level C1 Spanish questions asked in English and the Spanish answers in the key: Whiteboard Quiz Game; Paper Password; Class Feud; Classroom Millionaire; Mystery Box
  • A calm vocabulary block for each day, for early finishers or a loud moment: students learn 8 new Spanish words at level C1, turn the page over and test themselves quietly (match, word grid, story gaps, unscramble, mystery word), then check with the answer strip: Learn and Test: Register Words; Learn and Test: Language Words; Learn and Test: Science Journalism Words; Learn and Test: Literary Words; Learn and Test: Ethics Words
  • Answer keys for every set, vocabulary test, team task and game

Helpful Details

Written for Spanish level C1 (AP and advanced Spanish, CEFR C1), in any grade from middle school to high school. Review only: every set goes over material the class has already covered, and nothing is taught for the first time. Each set fills one period (about 50 minutes), and the team task fills a block period. The filled-in plan is a sample order: every set stands alone, so you can move any set to any day, or use one with another class when it fits. No tech needed: nothing needs a login, a projector, student devices or supplies beyond pencil and paper. Every set, vocabulary test, team task and game has its answer key in the back.
