ESL Sub Plans Level A1 Beginner, Week Long Emergency Sub Plans for ELL and ESL Class, No Prep, 5 Days, 61 Pages

$9.99

Out for a week? Every ESL class at this level is planned, Monday to Friday. These ESL sub plans for beginner English learners (CEFR A1, roughly WIDA 1 to 2) give your substitute five days of ELL review, one set per day for every class, ready as ESL emergency sub plans, long term sub plans or a no prep ESL sub binder for middle school, high school or adult ESL. It is review only, nothing new: ESL worksheets on family, daily routines, food and shopping, the town and vacations, with the grammar of level A1, plus a daily ESL vocabulary block where students learn 8 new words and test themselves, team tasks, optional ESL review games and answer keys, so any sub can run it without ELD training. No tech needed. Print and go for a planned absence, a sub tub, a substitute teacher binder, or emergency lesson plans on a sick day.

Perfect For

  • A full week out: sick leave, a conference, jury duty, a family emergency
  • A sub who does not know your subject or your class
  • ESL teachers with several A1 classes: one set covers every class that day, middle school to adult
  • A review week before a test or after a break, when nothing new should be taught
  • Your sub tub or emergency sub folder, ready before you need it
  • Long term subs who need a first week that runs itself

How It Works

  1. Print the binder and leave it on your desk. The week plan on page 5 is already filled in, with page numbers and minutes for every set.
  2. Monday’s set runs in every period you teach on Monday, Tuesday’s set on Tuesday, and so on. The calm vocabulary block fits any gap, the team task fills a block period, and the game is optional fun for the last 15 minutes.
  3. Every set stands alone, so the plan is only a sample order: swap sets between days, or use one with another class when it fits. Each set opens with a line that says what it reviews.
  4. The sub script is plain English and every answer is in the key, so the sub needs no ESL training.
  5. Prefer your own order? A blank weekly schedule is included.

Helpful Details

Written for ESL level A1 (beginner, CEFR A1, roughly WIDA 1 to 2), in any grade from middle school to adult classes. Review only: every set goes over material the class has already covered, and nothing is taught for the first time. Every page a student reads is written at CEFR A1. Each set fills one period (about 50 minutes), and the team task fills a block period. The filled-in plan is a sample order: every set stands alone, so you can move any set to any day, or use one with another class when it fits. No tech needed: nothing needs a login, a projector, student devices or supplies beyond pencil and paper. Every set, vocabulary test, team task and game has its answer key in the back.
